Deal With Stress

Six Lifehacks to Create a Stress-Free Environment

Using Feng Shui To Reduce StressFor most people, creating a stress-free environment can be a real challenge. In the midst of a busy workweek, a packed schedule and a laundry list of errands to do, it isn’t easy figuring out how to arrange a calm space. Here are some tips and tricks to make it happen!

1. Get rid of what you don’t need

A calm space should be a clean space. In order to get rid of all the junk in your environment, you have to take a look at what you don’t need. Empty out your drawers, take everything off your desk and clean off the chairs. Once everything is out in the open, only put back what you use.

2. Toss the papers out

All of us have to deal with too many paper items. Even in this electronic age, a good deal of magazines, bills, sticky notes, promotional pamphlets and business memos can crowd our space. File away the information that matters to you, and throw out the rest.

3. Clean the space well

There’s something to be said for a well-cleaned area. After you’ve thrown away, stored or filed your important items in the room, take a few minutes to wipe down the surfaces. Dust off bookshelves, clean off tables, fluff pillows and vacuum the floor.  Once you’re done deep-cleaning, relax and enjoy your clear, clean space. Feeling calm in your area means feeling fresh and clean.

4. Organize what you have

Take a moment to see what you really need to organize. Now that you have what you need in your space, you can sort your things in a way that’s beneficial to you. Get desk trays, filing cabinets or drawers and place your belongings where you can find them.

5. Pay attention to mood and lighting

A calm space that feels inviting has nice lighting and good ambiance. Place a standing lamp in the room. Put a desk lamp that you love on your desk. Think about making a soothing soundtrack to listen to while you hang out or work in the room.

6. Put out plants and art pieces you like

Decorate the area with some pieces that show off your personality. Use plants to decorate a side table or desk. Succulents, ferns and potted flowers look beautiful in any space. Place a gorgeous piece of art on one of the walls to give off a serene feel to the area.

Creating a space that is soothing and well-organized is well worth the time it takes to keep it that way. With these tips by your side, you’ll be on the way to relaxation and contentment in no time!
