Quit your stressful job and start on a rewarding path to a relaxing career. Wouldn’t you love to look forward to going to work every morning and sleeping soundly every night? Here are a few of the least stressful jobs in the world.

Medical Records Technician

For some of us, we prefer the chaos of a messy lifestyle. Clothes strewn about the floor, food wrappers left on the table — no problem. For others, though, everything has its place. That’s where Medical Records Technicians come in. They’re responsible for keeping all the files in order. To them, organizing and alphabetizing is therapeutic. They’re very important to any medical office, but it’s not a stressful position. The median salary is $32,500. After working there so long, though, you may be inspired to get your nursing degree and take on a bit more stress.


If you love organization but a medical office isn’t your thing, consider being a librarian. Not only do you get to organize to your heart’s content, but you get to read, recommend, and talk about books all day long. Best of all, you get paid to do it. The starting salary for a librarian is $55,370, but the real reward is the little to no stress the job provides.

Medical Lab Technician

The best thing about being a medical lab technician is the fact that you work away from everyone else. You’re free to take your time and analyze the samples to get the data that you need. They work at their own pace and there’s virtually no stress whatsoever, which is extremely important because this is such an important job. The median salary for a medical lab technician is about $37,000.


Have you ever thought about helping people hear? The career outlook for audiologists is on the rise. Its median salary of $66,660 is on the rise, too. You’re going to generally work with elderly patients; you usually get to set your own hours; and you may even get to have your own practice. This is probably the least stressful position in the medical field.


Are you a health nut? Do you love planning proper meals? A dietitian is the job for you! As a dietitian, you’ll work in a health facility and help plan patients’ dietary needs. You’ll plan menus and instruct patients and staff alike about proper nutritional care. This regular nine to five job pays a little more than $50,000. Not only will you love your job, but you’ll love helping patients improve their lives.


To become a proper chiropractor, you’ll need the traditional amount of schooling, which is about four to six years. Once you’re out, though, you’ll enjoy a virtually stress-free job. In fact, your job is about taking the stress away, not adding on to it. You’ll work at your own pace, possibly at your own firm, and help patients escape their troubles. You’ll be appropriately compensated — you’ll make a little less than $70,000 annually, and if you have your own practice, you can set your own hours.

Occupational Therapist

It’ll require quite a bit of schooling, but similar to a chiropractor, once you’re out, you’ll enjoy a virtually stress-free job. You’ll help patients regain their mobility after an accident, or just exercise to work out a certain muscle to cure a nagging injury. You’ll likely work with a doctor, and most days, you’ll only work six hours. You’ll earn about $70,000 annually in this position, but perhaps the biggest reward, even more than being stress-free, is helping patients get back to 100 percent.
