5 Great Activities To Relieve Stress And Calm Down Your Workweek

comfy bedEverything is happening at lightning speed and the deadline for everything is pending. This can make for a stressful scenario and can easily leave you feeling overwhelmed. There are things you can do that could do wonders for your stress levels. Consider these five activities to relieve stress and calm down your workweek.

    1. Exercise regularly

The most important thing you can do is to take care of your body and exercise as much as possible. Doing this releases endorphins and keeps you feeling your best. It has been shown to improve symptoms of anxiety and reduce depression levels. A study showed exercise was much more effective than powerful tranquilizers when it comes to reducing anxiety levels associated with chronic stress. Another great thing is to find a relaxing place to go to after you get done exercising. Visiting a spa is a great way to relax.

    2. Plan more

A hectic schedule could be much more manageable if you get your schedule in order. Set priorities and productivity goals on a daily basis. You should be prepared to eliminate the unnecessary items that may be draining you. Take every opportunity to address any issues you have with procrastination.

    3. Change your perspective

Making the decision to look at stress as something you to choose to invite in your life can be helpful. Sometimes viewing stress as a choice rather than a necessary occurrence can keep you from feeling overwhelmed. You don’t have to react to stress mentally and physically in the same manner.

    4. Napping is rejuvenating

When you are overworked, the best thing you can do for your body is give it a break. A nap may be all you need to recharge. Scheduling a power nap for 30 minutes on a daily can help you relieve stress. A study showed that a 20 minute nap in the afternoon was more effective than an additional 20 minutes of sleep in the morning. This is because the body naturally becomes tired in the afternoon.

    5. Get the full eight hours

The average person is sleep deprived. Research shows that getting fewer than 6 hours or less daily increases their chances of getting in an accident by three-fold. Getting between seven and eight hours every night is important. Not getting enough sleep puts you at risk for diabetes, hypertension, cancer and other conditions. Sleeping eight hours a night improves your body’s response to stress.

If you are feeling stressed, the first thing you should do is to look at your lifestyle and all of the activities in it. Learn to eliminate the things that don’t add value and understand that saying ‘no’ isn’t always a bad thing. Take better care of you, and you’ll experience far less stress in your daily life.
